Accurate measurements are the foundation of a perfect-fitting blind. Our detailed measuring guide walks you through the process with clear diagrams for both recess (inside the window frame) and exact fits (outside the frame).

Getting the perfect fit

Measuring Guide

Follow our step-by-step guide to measure your windows accurately. Correct measurements are essential for a perfect-fitting blind. When in doubt, call our team — we're happy to help.

Choose your fit type

Two Ways to Fit

Blinds can be fitted in two ways — inside the recess of your window, or outside the recess on the surrounding wall or frame. The measuring method differs for each.

Decide Your Fitting Position

Choose whether your blind will sit inside the window recess or outside on the wall or frame. Recess fitting gives a clean, built-in look. Outside recess fitting is useful when the recess is too shallow or you want more light control.

💡 Tip: The minimum recess depth required is 6cm for most roller blinds and 7cm for Venetian blinds.

Measure the Width

For recess fit: Measure the width in three places — top, middle, and bottom. Use the narrowest measurement. We will deduct a small tolerance automatically.

For outside recess: Add at least 5cm either side of the recess width for adequate light blocking. Enter your finished desired width.

⚠️ Important: Always measure in centimetres to 1 decimal place (e.g. 82.4cm), and double-check before ordering.

Measure the Drop (Height)

For recess fit: Measure from the top of the recess to the window sill. For outside recess: Measure from where you want the blind to start (e.g. above the frame) to where you want it to end. Add at least 5cm above the recess and 2–3cm below the sill.

💡 Tip: For Roman blinds, add an extra 30cm to your drop to allow for fabric stacking when the blind is raised.

Enter your measurements in the product configurator exactly as you've taken them. Specify whether you want a recess or outside recess fit, and we'll handle all the adjustments in our workshop.

✅ Remember: Each blind is made individually to your exact dimensions. If you have multiple windows, measure each one separately — even windows in the same room can vary!
